Methodological Framework and Public Engagement Strategy
This project operates within the domain of Roman Frontier Studies, focusing on the eastern sector of the Roman Frontiers in Dacia. It draws primarily on archaeological, geophysical, geochemical, topographic data, and aerial imagery. The research design integrates a range of specialized methods—including provincial Roman archaeology, geochemistry, geophysics, remote sensing, landscape analysis, and spatial archaeology—to enable a comprehensive investigation of Roman military forts and their surrounding environments.
Each category of data will be independently processed, analyzed, and interpreted. Final conclusions will emerge from a comparative synthesis of these individual analyses, using a “data fusion” approach. To ensure broader impact, the project also targets non-academic audiences. A supplementary manuscript will be produced, presenting the main findings in accessible language, enriched with visual content such as photographs, site plans, and 2D reconstructions. While it will feature fewer in-text citations, it will include a complete bibliography and an overview of the research methods used. This publication will be supported by local and regional outreach activities, ideally involving community participation as part of the dissemination strategy.
